Session Title: Rethinking the Role of Non-State Actors in Enabling the HDP Nexus Approach

The panel discussion which was held on June 1, 2023 in conjunction with the Jeju Forum provided an opportunity to explore possible roadmaps concerning the HDP(Humanitarian-Development-Peace) Nexus, one of the integrated approaches widely discussed in the international development arena since 2016. The session was moderated by Mr. Byung Hwa CHUNG, Director of UNITAR CIFAL Jeju, with the five invited panelists from different sectors: Dr. Bernadia Irawati Tjandradewi, Secretary General of the United Cities and Local Governments’ Asia Pacific region, Mr. Min Gu Joung, Council Member of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Mr. Steven Hamilton, Chief of Mission of IOM Korea, Mr. Sun Kim, Senior Director of Good Neighbors International, and Dr. Tae Kyoon Kim, Professor at the Graduate School of International Studies of Seoul National University. Around 60 people who are interested in the field of international development assistance joined the discussion and listened to the experts’ insights.

제주 포럼 개최 계기에 제주국제연수센터는 동 포럼의 하나의 세션으로서 2023.6.1. 개발 원조 분야 전문가를 초청하여 2016년 이후 통합적 개발 원조 접근법으로 대두된 인도적 개발 평화 간의 관계(HDP Nexus)에 있어서 비국가 행위자의 역할을 주제로 한 패널토론회를 개최하였으며, 정병화 연수센터 소장이 동 토론회를 진행하였다.
