UNITAR CIFAL Jeju International Training Center, in partnership with the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) ONEA-GETI, hosted the 'Alumni Workshop on Local Actions for Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation' in Bangkok, Thailand, from 22 to 24 October 2025.
The workshop brought together 22 alumni from across the Asia-Pacific region (Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Bhutan, and Thailand), selected based on exemplary case study reports submitted by past participants of the Center's training programmes working in the fields of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA). Participants shared their experiences and outcomes applying knowledge gained from previous training, and attended expert lectures on the latest trends and innovative approaches in DRR/CCA.
Furthermore, they engaged in peer-to-peer learning through group discussions and poster presentation sessions to exchange practical experiences from their respective countries, and participated in a field visit to Benjakitti Forest Park in Bangkok to observe a successful real-world example of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) implementation.
The key focus of this workshop was 'best practice sharing' and 'strengthening the alumni network', emphasizing the exchange of both successes and failures from the field to gain practical insights. Through this programme, participants enhanced their practical implementation capacities at the local level and solidified a foundation for sustained cooperation leading to follow-up action plans.

이번 워크숍에는 재난위험경감(DRR) 및 기후변화적응(CCA) 분야에서 활동하는 아시아·태평양 지역 국가의 동 센터 연수프로그램 기참가자(동문)들이 제출한 우수사례 보고서 기반으로 선정된22명(방글라데시, 인도, 인도네시아, 네팔, 파키스탄, 필리핀, 스리랑카, 베트남, 부탄, 태국)이 참석하였다. 참가자들은 연수에서 배운 지식을 현장에 적용한 경험과 성과를 공유하고, DRR/CCA 분야의 최신 동향과 혁신적 접근법에 대한 전문가 강의를 들었다.
또한, 그룹 토론 및 포스터 발표 세션을 통해 각국의 실천 경험을 상호 토론하고, 방콕 벤자키티 숲 공원 방문을 통해 자연기반해법(NbS)이 성공적으로 이행되고 있는 실제 사례를 학습하였다.
이번 워크숍의 핵심은 '우수사례 공유'와 '동문 네트워크 강화'로, 참가자들이 현장에서의 성공 및 실패 사례를 교환하며 실질적인 통찰을 얻는 데 초점을 맞췄다. 본 프로그램을 통해 참가자들은 지역 차원의 실질적인 실행 역량을 강화하고, 향후 후속 실행계획으로 이어지는 지속적인 협력 기반을 공고히 했다.
